Not What I Ordered

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30
Have you ever been to a fine dining establishment, and saw a meal in which every single ingredient of the dish was intriguing and enticing? So like any person would, you quickly decide that you just have to have that meal! Then the food arrives, you bite deep in the dish, and to your disappointment you realize that the flavor was not at all what you were expecting.
Well, let me tell you life can be much the same. Relationships, in particular. One day all is well, and then the next the "food" just ain't good, and you think to yourself this is not what I ordered, this is not how I wanted life or this relationship to unfold.
This is me.
Recently, I found myself in a situation that shortly turned into a circumstance I was not at all expecting. It was through this situation that my character was truly tested and challenged like never before. I found myself stuck in a place of confusion. I thought to myself, "Why in the world am I going through such a season. This is not what I ordered AT ALL, " So my purpose today, is to provide you with encouragement when handling an undesired situation, through use of my experience.
Here is what I learned, and it is quite simple. I learned that life may not be going the way you intend, but God doesn't always give you what you order, but He will always gives you what you NEED.
So let's go back to the table. So you ordered what you thought was a delicious meal only to discover disappointment, so now what? Well there are a couple of options:
1. Deal with the situation and continue to eat the unappetizing meal
2. Take the meal back, re-order, and patiently wait for a renewed experience.
My advice to you, is to take option two.
Once you have identified a compromising moment in your life take ownership, and make change. There is no way to escape the hardships of life, but you can turn these times into dynamic testimonies. It's all in your approach. So take back that meal! Do not accept anything or anyone that is not of quality. Stand firm, in your standards.
But before you move too quickly, take a minute or two to ponder on how you got to the restaurant (the place in life you are in) in the first place. Self-reflection is key to understanding why you may be in an unpleasant situation, and allow you to turn the negative into a positive.
Let's be honest it is not always another person, or "bad luck" that caused your situation, sometimes it is just YOU. Maybe you looked at the menu, but did not pay close attention to detail regarding the description of the food. What I'm trying to say is that, the dish you ordered may not have been deceiving after all, but you simply made a mistake, a bad choice if you will.
Reorder.
To me, this is the best part. God will not allow you to go through anything you can not handle. In fact, as his child He gives you the ability to understand that every situation is mandated by Him. Maybe he wanted to draw you closer to Him, and placing you in a compromising situation was his way of grabbing your attention. That's what happened to me. He chose to bring things to the surface, that I truly needed to work on, which in turn brought me closer to Him.
Now let me tell you, I am so thankful for this experience because I know I would not have been able to understand nor appreciate why life taste so good now. I wouldn't have been able to appreciate the REAL meal.
So hold on brothas and sistahs, if you send back a plate of concern AND work on you while you wait, I guarantee you that your new meal will exceed your expectations! Stay faithful, and hold tight to your utensils, because dessert is coming !
Always served with love,
Dri ♥
