Happy Spring Blogsties !! I know that here in the DMV it looks nothing like spring as snow has decided to (hopefully) make its last visit... but despite the frigid and snowy forecast, I am SO excited to welcome spring and some warmer weather !
Speaking of warm weather... I must tell you about my ravishing and most recent travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), more specifically Dubai and Abu Dhabi. You will definitely want to take a bite of this, so c'mon let's dig in !
The Meal
How and why did I make my way to the Middle East ? Well actually this spring break excursion has been in the works for a couple of years now. It was one holiday, maybe Christmas or Thanksgiving, that my family mentioned taking a trip to Dubai. In early 2017 we started putting together the plans to make this trip a reality, and on March 14th 2018, after a long 14 hour flight, over 30 family members, friends, and I landed in Dubai !
Don't worry I know this description was short and sweet, so below I will highlight my favorite ingredients or moments of the trip :)
Favorite Ingredients
1. Traveling with family across the world. This was a very special treat, and with out a doubt my number one favorite aspect of the trip! I am truly grateful for all the memories that were created during our days in Dubai as they surely will never be forgotten. Such a priceless trip. Love you fam !
2. The influence of reading The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. I finished my second read of the Alchemist just 30 minutes prior to landing in Dubai. This was special because it highlighted God's perfect timing. I started the second read a while before the trip, but because of work and other commitments I was unable to finish in what I thought was a timely manner, but never would I have imagined that reading and finishing this book, in the timing that I did, would make my experience in the desert THAT much better. If you haven't had the chance to read this phenomenal book, I highly encourage you to do so ! I wont say much more because I don't want to spill the beans, but let's just say Dubai made this book truly come to life.
3. Bashing the dunes in the desert of Dubai. This was truly an exhilarating experience ! Driving around in the desert was pretty much synonymous to being on a roller coaster. It was a wild, but appetizing ride full of laughter and joy!
4. Dining in the Desert. As you can see I really enjoyed being in the desert. The desert in itself marks great significance as it is place where life is found despite the dry and desolate environment. Now I wont go on to preach about this, but just know the desert is a very special place. With that being said, dining in a desert, camp site was awesome ! It was here that I received my very first henna tattoo, watched a belly dancer grace the stage with her moves, took pictures with an Emirates favorite pet, a falcon, and of course ate some delicious food! It was truly a memorable Arabian night.
5. The Grand Mosque. During the latter end of the trip we traveled and stayed in the city of Abu Dhabi which is the largest and wealthiest territory in the UAE, and here is where the Grand Mosque is housed. This mosque is the place of worship and prayer for those that practice Islam. The building is enormous and absolutely breathtaking. Although I am a devout Christian and follower of Jesus Christ my Savior, it was a great experience to gain in depth knowledge regarding Islam.
6. Shopping ! Whether it's in the market place or in the world's largest mall, The Dubai Mall, the retail experience in the UAE was amazinnnngggggg. Honestly, I could go back to Dubai just to shop! So if you are anything like me and the mall is your therapy... go ahead and book the flight to Dubai, you will not be disappointed!
Order to Go
I would absolutely recommend a trip to Dubai! The UAE is bursting at the seams with new development and modernism, that calls for a visit of your own. In addition to their dedication to advancement, the UAE is filled with so much culture and diversity ! I also must add, that contrary to American media, this area of the Middle East is very safe and super clean. So what are you waiting for, I think it's time for you to take a dip into the Arabian life!
